Sep 13, 2023

The nubia Z40 Pro has recently been unveiled in China, boasting two industry firsts. One of its key features is a brand-new 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor, accompanieda 35mm equivalent lens. Additionally, the limited Gravity edition of the Z40 Pro is the first Android smartphone to incorporate magnetic wireless charging.

On the front panel, users will find a 6.67″ AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. With a 144Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, the display offers a stunning visual experience. nubia claims that the Z40 Pro can reach a brightness of up to 1,000 nits.

Running on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, the nubia Z40 Pro is available in three RAM capacities: 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB. Storage options include 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, offering users a range of choices.

The Z40 Pro boasts three cameras on the back. Its main shooter features an impressive 64MP 1/1.3″ sensor and an f/1.6 7P lens with optical image stabilization (OIS). By default, the sensor captures 16MP images using 4-to-1 binning. In addition to the main camera, there is a 50MP ultrawide camera and an 8MP periscope telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera.

While magnetic charging is highlighted in the Z40 Pro’s promotional materials, it is important to note that not all versions of the phone support this feature. The limited “Gravity Edition” comes with a slightly smaller 4,600 mAh battery and supports 66W fast charging via cable. It also comes at a higher price point. The other versions of the Z40 Pro feature a 5,000 mAh battery, 80W wired charging support, and do not have magnets on the back.

The phone runs on MyOS 12, nubia’s user interface based on Android 12. The device also includes a USB 3.1 port with a USB-C connector, NFC capabilities, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. However, it lacks a micro SD port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

In terms of pricing, the ZTE nubia Z40 Pro starts at CNY3,399 for the 8/128GB Black or Silver models. The Gravity Edition, with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, is priced at CNY4,299.
